Afghan Delegation Visits Iran to Advance Transit Infrastructure and Establish Truck Parking Facilities

KABUL— The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation of Afghanistan has announced that a delegation led by Mohammad Rustam Hafizyar, Director of Planning, Research, and Project Implementation, has traveled to the Islamic Republic of Iran. The purpose of this visit is to identify suitable locations for establishing truck parking facilities (TIR parks) on both sides of the Afghanistan-Iran border.

Weezharoz-The primary objective of this mission is to assess mechanisms for accommodating transit vehicles and to develop transport infrastructure in the border regions of the two countries.

This initiative aligns with the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to facilitate the safe and efficient movement of commercial goods between Afghanistan and Iran.

Recent agreements between the two nations aim to strengthen cooperation in road transport, including the expansion of transit routes such as the Herat–Mazar-i-Sharif corridor.

Iran has also expressed its support for Afghanistan’s utilization of the Chabahar Port, providing logistical services to Afghan traders through this strategic gateway.

The establishment of TIR parks is anticipated to reduce transit costs, enhance road safety, and provide essential services to freight drivers.

This visit underscores the shared commitment of Afghanistan and Iran to bolster economic collaboration and regional connectivity.
