New Phase of Support for Afghan Refugees Begins; Special Task Force Established at Torkham Border and Enhanced International Cooperation
Kabul – In a meeting chaired by Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, Acting Minister for Refugees and Repatriates of Afghanistan, plans for the launch of a new phase of support for Afghan refugees and the facilitation of their return from Pakistan were discussed. The meeting was attended by deputy ministers, heads of relevant departments, and representatives of international organizations.

Weezharoz–The primary goal of the meeting was to effectively manage the new wave of refugees, overcome existing obstacles, and strengthen coordination with both governmental and international organizations.
During the session, the prepared plan for the new phase of refugee support was reviewed, with emphasis on addressing shortcomings, ensuring necessary equipment, and dispatching specialized personnel to the borders.
Mawlawi Abdul Kabir stated that to expedite the registration of refugees, essential materials, equipment, and professional staff will be sent to the Torkham border.
Furthermore, he mentioned that qualified and committed individuals would be hired to enhance services for refugees if necessary.
He also highlighted that, in line with the leadership’s decree, the cooperation of all Islamic Emirate institutions is essential for resolving refugee-related issues.
Joint meetings with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and relevant committees will continue regularly.
It was also decided that a special delegation from the Ministry of Refugees would be sent to the Torkham border to assess the immediate needs of refugees, collaborate with local authorities, and offer practical solutions to the challenges.
Additionally, the importance of holding urgent meetings with international organizations such as the United Nations and the Red Cross was emphasized to increase the level of aid and ensure the safe return of refugees.
