Trump: Prefers Deal with Iran Over Other Options
Donald Trump, the President of the United States, stated that he prefers a deal with Iran and will make decisions regarding secondary tariffs against the Islamic Republic. He said, “We’ll see if we can reach an agreement or not. If not, things will get bad, really bad.” On Sunday, March 31, while discussing that he prefers achieving an agreement over the alternative, Trump said aboard Air Force One, “I think everyone aboard this plane is aware of that alternative, and it’s not a good one.”

Weezha Roz-Washington –The U.S. President also mentioned that Iran should have no option but to reach an agreement and added that former President Joe Biden didn’t know how to deal with the Islamic Republic.
According to Trump, a lot is happening regarding Iran, and if no progress is made within about two weeks, tariffs will be imposed.
This is not the first time Trump has expressed such a stance, as he has previously presented Iran with two options: agreement or military confrontation.
Earlier, in an interview with NBC, Trump warned Iran about the development of its nuclear program and said that if they do not agree, bombing would follow.
On March 8, 2025, Trump announced in a letter to Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, his willingness to negotiate over Iran’s nuclear program, rather than taking military action.
Axios news website reported on March 20, 2025, that the letter had a tough tone, setting a two-month deadline for reaching a new nuclear agreement.
