Reaction of the Ministry of National Defense to the Transfer of Afghanistan’s Helicopters from Uzbekistan to the United States.
Weezha Roz-Following the transfer of seven Afghan military helicopters from Uzbekistan to the United States, Afghanistan’s Ministry of National Defense has strongly reacted, calling the move a violation of Afghanistan’s national rights.
After the fall of the previous Afghan government in August 2021, over 500 Afghan military personnel, along with 22 military aircraft and 24 helicopters, were transferred to Uzbekistan.
These assets, provided to the Afghan army by the United States, remained in Uzbekistan, and according to prior agreements, were not to be returned to Afghanistan.
The Ministry of National Defense of Afghanistan issued a statement, declaring that the transfer of these helicopters to the United States without Afghanistan’s consent constitutes a violation of the country’s national rights.
The Ministry emphasized that these assets are considered Afghanistan’s national property and must be returned to the country.
According to international law, military equipment provided to a country is considered part of that country’s national assets.
The transfer of this equipment without the approval of the Afghan government is a violation of the country’s ownership rights and national sovereignty.
This act could be seen as a unilateral and illegal action by the United States.
This transfer is not only legally questionable but also politically detrimental to the relations between Afghanistan, the United States, and Uzbekistan.
The Ministry of National Defense of Afghanistan has called on Uzbekistan to respect the rights of the Afghan people and refrain from any transactions involving these assets.
This move may weaken the image of the United States in Afghanistan and the region. Furthermore, it could be seen as an example of disregard for the national rights of weaker countries in the international arena.
This report highlights that the transfer of these helicopters to the United States has created a serious challenge for Afghanistan and requires immediate and effective action from the international community.
