Salang Highways Temporarily Closed Due to Snowfall and Storm

Weezha Roz-The Salang Highways have been temporarily closed to traffic due to heavy snowfall, a storm, and limited visibility.
The closure, which started at 11:30 PM on Friday night, will remain in effect until further notice to prevent potential loss of life and property damage.
Mohammad Ashraf Haqshanas, spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Works, stated that the Salang Highways are closed to both passenger and freight vehicles.
According to Haqshanas, the snowfall combined with a storm is currently ongoing, and personnel from the Salang Maintenance and Protection Directorate are working to evacuate vehicles from vulnerable areas on both sides of the highway.
He urged travelers and drivers who are currently on both sides of the highway to stop in safe areas to avoid any potential risks from the weather conditions.
Haqshanas also advised passengers who plan to travel on either side of the highway to refrain from heading towards the Salang areas unless they have urgent business, until further notice.
Additionally, Haqshanas mentioned that the personnel from the Salang Maintenance and Protection Directorate are ready to clear the snow-prone areas and reopen the highway to traffic as soon as the weather conditions improve.
