Russia expressed concern about the remaining US weapons in Afghanistan

Nikolai Patrushev, the secretary of the Russian National Security Council, has warned that the remaining weapons in Afghanistan after the withdrawal of America and NATO from this country can cause instability in the countries of the region.

Mr. Patrushev expressed his concern at the security meeting of the regional countries in Moscow on Wednesday (19 April) that the remaining weapons in Afghanistan may intensify the war between different Afghan groups and be sold to terrorists in the black market of the countries.

The secretary of the Russian National Security Council said in this meeting: “The Western coalition has left a large amount of weapons in Afghanistan after the withdrawal of the troops.” We are talking about more than a thousand armored vehicles, dozens of planes and helicopters, hundreds of cannons, mortars, anti-tank and anti-aircraft systems, and hundreds of thousands of light and heavy weapons, the value of which reaches tens of billions of dollars.

This Russian security official has also accused the Americans of increasing drug trafficking in Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council warned in this meeting that the imposition of any kind of political system in Afghanistan will only increase insecurity.

Ali Shamkhani said that further delay in the participation of all ethnic groups in the governance of Afghanistan will increase the problems of this country.

He added: “Creating security, peace, stability and progress in Afghanistan is our main priority.”

The fifth meeting of national security advisers of regional countries regarding Afghanistan was held in Moscow on Wednesday.

National security advisers of Russia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan participated in this meeting.
